As we learned during the 2012 election cycle it is not always easy to explain the virtues of conservative principles. Now, add to that the difficulty of helping voters understand the vagaries of the liberal mindset. Every policy the liberals advance, on the surface sounds so compassionate and caring. They want to help the poor, we don’t. They want everyone to have access to healthcare, we don’t. They want all children to go to college, we don’t. You and I both know that we care just as much about the poor than anyone else does. Actually we know that liberal policies are making things worse for the poor and less fortunate.

Therefore, we all must learn ways to advance the idea of conservatism and lead the narrative in a very different direction. We are blessed to have many conservative minds helping us hone our communication skills and certainly Dinish D’Souza is one of them. Here is an excerpt taken from a session he had with students at Oregon State last year. Please listen to his answers. I believe his responses are ways we can help explain the conservative position. We can also learn something about the young people in America. Consider the questions. Young people always have a “we can help the world” view. I know that because I too was a college student and remember discussions about the proper role of government. As activists for conservative causes we must improve our communication skills. I encourage you to listen to this clip. I also encourage you to take some time to visit conservative websites and read more about the issues. Listen to the leaders in conservative circles to learn more about the many ways we can communicate our message. We have an important statewide election this year. We must start the dialogue today and begin to help Virginia’s voters understand the policies needed to bring back American exceptionalism.

Thank you
